Change Your Living Room by Changing Your Tables

Living Room Tables

Are you ready for a new living room interior design? Is replacing everything out of your budget? Update your home just by changing the living room tables. Ideally, you’ll start with a good quality, neutral sofa. Pick a style that’s not too modern and not too old-fashioned. A plain, smaller arm style works best.

Now you can add living room tables to style your room in a number of different ways.

Farmhouse Living Room:

This is a popular style that incorporates weathered wood tones, and perhaps some iron or steel elements. Look for living room tables with charming details such as shutters, old-fashioned drawer pulls, and cabinet doors with glass.

Reclaimed wood is perfect for the Farmhouse look – just don’t overdo it. Mix a couple of reclaimed wood cabinets with a unique butcher block coffee table. Or use a trunk as a living room table instead.

Tree stump tables make wonderful accents beside a chair.

When you’re ready to leave the Farmhouse, you’ll be happy that your neutral upholstery will work anywhere – it’s time to explore.

Global Style Living Room:

Global style is an eclectic mix of decorative elements from all over the world. It brings the talents of wonderful artisans together in your living room, in a lively mix of color and pattern. Be sure to add some vibrant pillows to your sofa. Then, anchor the living room with a colorful table and cabinet.

Add a coffee table with brass inlay, and lots of handcrafted detail.

Bring in a pair of end tables with exotic patterned inlay, and lots of room to store books and personal items.

The result is an amazing colorful transformation just by changing the living room tables.

Modern Living Room Style:

Taking our basic sofa in the opposite direction, let’s change living room tables again to create a calm, modern-style retreat. Start with some clean-lined cube tables.

Add a complementary storage unit to hold books, stereo equipment, and clutter.

For a coffee table, let’s avoid taking the cube theme too far. This round table with wedge accent tables is perfect.

The wedge tables can be pulled out to use as accent tables when needed, and stored neatly back under the cocktail table. This clean and modern combination of living room tables can be easily personalized with art, books, and a few nice pillows.

Coastal Style Living Room:

Coastal Style is inspired by the colors of the sand, sea, and sky, and surfaces weathered by the wind. Using the neutral sofa, we can bring in living room tables with weathered finishes and beachy colors for the perfect Coastal retreat. A simple pair of cube tables work together as a cocktail table (you’ll need two for this look).

Add a storage cabinet in coastal aqua-blue paint. This is a perfect focal point and can be used for either a TV stand or buffet.

Plus, two storage cabinets in a distressed, beachy-looking finish. These will add some color to the sofa.

These little stools, with their worn aqua paint, make great living room tables and extra seating.

Now all you’ll need to add is a big seascape painting and perhaps a chilled drink!

Mid-Century Retro Living Room:

Next, we’re going to take our plain sofa in a completely different direction -back to the ’60s with Mid-Century-inspired tables. Look for living room tables with Sputnik-style legs and pops of color.

This cocktail table with its lower shelf and convenient drawers is both practical and cool.

The rounded edges of these quirky end tables have a distinct mid-century vibe.

Industrial Style Living Room:

Industrial Style interior design combines some of the rustic details of old urban buildings with modern furniture design. Look for worn brick walls, exposed pipes, and large steel windows. Items left behind in industrial spaces are repurposed for the home. The thick wood planks and metal wheels used in factories are essential to Industrial Style. Start your design with two or three rolling carts placed together to form a TV console.

A cocktail table that resembles an old factory cart will fit right in.

Plus a basic console behind the sofa.

A combination of different end tables gives the space a “collected” look. With Industrial Style, you want the impression that things were found and collected over time. A square iron table and a rolling trunk add some color.

Express your unique style by shopping for living room tables that suit your home’s personality. Replacing your living room tables can be a great way to settle into a new home too. If your old furniture doesn’t seem to be working in a new space, consider replacing the living room tables and adding some fresh accessories such as pillows, art, or lighting. You don’t have to buy all new furniture to create a brand-new look in your home.
